"Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring."
- Marilyn Monroe

“Burlesque grants me space to revel in the art and magic my body allows me to create.”
“It’s best if you can do things with a sense of humor and finesse.”
- Eartha Kitt

What's the story behind your stage name?
Luna Dellara, believe it or not, was the product of a
Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) game where I played a buxom bard who
serenaded and seduced her way out of many sticky situations. I loved the
feisty personality of the character I created, and the name just couldn’t be better fitted
to Burlesque, so it stuck!
In only three words, how would you define your stage persona?
Dramatic, Vivacious, and (wantonly) Whimsical.
What do you share with the audience when you dance?
A sense of intimacy, the feeling of sharing an inside joke and,
of course, lots and lots of jaw-dropping shimmies!
What is that keeps your passion alive?
Being around other creative, passionate people keeps my passion alive.
Seeing performers immersed in their art sets my soul alight and drives me to believe
in myself…being a part of The Silk Room this past year has allowed me to be in touch
with my creative in a way I haven’t experienced in years.
Who inspires you the most?
Marilyn Monroe. Her effortless beauty and commitment to her craft has always inspired me
to bring an intimate honesty to my art, and to dedicate myself fully to everything I do.
How do you prepare before getting on stage? Are there any rituals you go through?
Usually, I find calm in the chaos of a show through manically rehearsing my act one last time,
enjoying a drink with my fellow performers backstage, and checking in with the Stage Manager
to ensure everything is all set. (Once a theater kid, always a theater kid.)
What’s your favourite act in the shows?
It’s so hard to pin down a favorite act...but if I had to choose one, it would be the
“Welcome to Wonderland” piece we performed for the Alice in Wonderland Show Down the Rabbit Hole. The combination of the music, the light-up Isis wings, and the tableaus we created
were incredible. I still get chills whenever I hear the song!
How did you join the Silk Room troupe?
I first experienced the magic of the Silk Room at the Chicago Cabaret in spring of 2021.
I was floored by the talent, commitment, and confidence of all the performers and immediately
approached them after the show to find out how to get involved. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful in
letting me know how to get involved. A few months later I took some Burlexercise classes taught
by Lucy Inhibitions, and soon after I dove head-first into the world of Burlesque. I was invited to perform at my first show later that fall. I can’t say enough how lucky I feel to have found this group of creative, empowering women. Performing and learning with the Silk Room troupe over the last year has given me a renewed passion
for dance and has helped me truly come back to who I’m meant to be as an artist.
